Butterscotch Sauce Homemade
Homemade Butterscotch sauce is not too sweet and if you need to cut back on sugar, just try using less sauce do not cut back on the sugar inThe recipe.
It won’t matter if it is hot or cold the kids are always asking for ice cream, but these days who can afford anything but the cheapest no-name vanilla? this gets boring after awhile, homemade is so much better and tasty.
Ingredients: ½ cup brown sugar (packed) ½ cup corn syrup ½ tsp salt 2 tbsp butter (not margarine, butter is your flavour) 1 tsp vanilla
Cook the brown sugar and corn syrup together for 10 minutes.Add the salt, butter and vanilla. Stir well and put in small jar.Makes 1 cup
For a creamy butterscotch sauce, add ½ cup thin cream to the sugar and corn syrup. Cook 30 minutes in top of double boiler, stirring occasionally. Add the salt, butter and vanilla.Serve warm or cold over ice cream or cake.
