Corn Bread

When I think of corn bread it stirs up thoughts of making a large pot of chili or stew, where you can soak up all that sauce with the bread mmm........mmm....but it can accompany any dish from Slow-Cooker Roast Beef, pork, chicken or fish, if you like cheese then why not try making cheddar Cheese Bread in muffin pans to add variety to your menu.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp. Sugar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup corn meal
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp melted shortening

    Preparation:

    Mix dry ingredients. Add egg and milk. Mix thoroughly. Add shortening last.Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes in greased loaf or muffin pan.
