Apple Bars

These Apple Bars has a secret ingredient that will make it dark in colour yet moist and delicious, it is cocoa, I hope you will bake this bar many times for it is a favourite of the kids for breakfast, when they can grab-n-go.



Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine

  • 1 1/4 cup sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

  • 2 tbsp cocoa

  • 2/3 cup milk

  • 2 cups shredded apples

    Preparation:

    Cream butter and sugar and beat in eggs and vanilla.

    Stir dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Stir in shredded apples. Spread in two greased 9-inch square pans and bake at 350 degrees until lightly browned ( about 30 minutes).

    Cool and cut in bars.

    Make about 4 dozen bars
